A Rare Form of an Inheritable Palmar and Plantar Keratosis

Abstract
A report is presented on a family of 23 members, among whom 6 had a palmar and plantar keratosis in the form of small multiple areas (Keratosis palmo-plantaris disseminata idiopathica). By taking into consideration that the disease appeared in 3 successive generations, it confirms the view that the anomaly is inherited as a regular dominant. Three of the affected individuals had changes on the cornea in the form of superficial opacities, reported in palmar and plantar keratosis transmitted recessively. Besides the cases described by Fuhs and Spanlang as by Tappeiner, this one would be the 3rd reported case of a dominant palmar and plantar keratosis with changes on the cornea. The case differs from the 2 reported earlier in the morphological appearance of skin alterations and as such it is the 1st reported one.
