Abstract
Retroperitoneum Lymph Nodes, Tumors, and Retropehtoneal Hemorrhage Assessment of retroperitoneal lymph nodes is a common clinical necessity for which CT and lymphangiography are the prime imaging examinations. The frequency of technically unsatisfactory examinations with ultrasound precludes its use. The complexities of choosing between CT and lymphangiography have recently been reviewed by Castellino and Marglin,61 who emphasize that many clinical considerations besides sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy often enter into this decision. Critical factors include findings at physical examination, patient tolerance, histologic type of the tumor being investigated, precision of information needed for therapeutic decisions, body habitus, and available radiologic expertise.
