Abstract
Rubella was transmitted to Macaca mulatto, monkeys by blood and nasal washings obtained from humans up to 24 hrs. after the appearance of the rash. The disease in monkeys is characterized by fever, leuko-penia, lymphocytosis and a light macular rash after an incubation period of about 8 days. Monkeys were infected intranasally, subcut., intraperitoneally and intraven. An inapparent infection was noted in some animals with fever and leukopenia but no rash and this type of reaction was more common on monkey-to-monkey passage. Immunity seemed slow in developing. The infective agent of rubella was cultured on the chorio-allantoic membrane of the developing chick embryo. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
