Abstract
A general solution to the problem of diffraction from a perfectly conducting sphere with a concentric shell spaced any distance from the surface of the sphere is presented. If the shell consists of a dielectric material the solution simplifies by using asymptotic expressions for the spherical Bessel function. Another simplification results when the shell is assumed to be thin. Keywords
