Abstract
Guinea pig ventricular myocytes coexpress two isoforms of the Na+-K+ pump. These two isoforms respond differently to the physical environment and are coupled to autonomic input through different signal transduction cascades. The expression of different isoforms provides each cell type with a mechanism of programming specific responses to environmental changes. Keywords
