Abstract
Polyglycerolphosphatide has been isolated from the lipids of two virulent (H37RV and Mycobacterium avium) strains and one avirulent (H37Ra) strain of M. tuberculosis by chromatography on silicic acid columns. The lipid constitutes a major fraction of the total phosphatides of the three strains. Evidence is presented that the lipid is similar in structure to cardiolipin.
