Abstract
S. trutta (20) from 1 area in W Norway were investigated for the presence of Y. enterocolitica. Three strains were isolated from 3 of these trout. All strains were classified as Y. enterocolitica on the basis of biochemical properties. One of the strains showed antigenic relationship to Y. enterocolitica O-serotype 17. A 2nd strain was antigenically related to Y. enterocolitica and Y. pseudotuberculosis. Agglutination against Y. enterocolitica O-antisera 4-33, 18 and 21 and Y. pseudotuberculosis O-antiserum II B was obtained. The 3rd culture was not agglutinated. The biochemical properties of the strains are presented. The capability of fish to spread Y. enterocolitica to humans is discussed. Keywords
