Abstract
“The physician is at a serious disadvantage if he must rely on conventional means of instituting therapy” for the critically ill. What are the alternatives? This article, based on experience in a unique shock research unit, suggests the major role that can be played by the computer and other automatic equipment in enhancing the physician's capacity to save lives that are now being lost.Keywords
