Never mind...

Abstract
I have enjoyed the recent stimulating debate on units for magnetic quantities. However, the quantity which crops up most frequently in your recent reports is cash, in units of pounds sterling, Deutschmarks, ECU and so on. Your recent alarming report on the state of UK physics departments (January p8) seems to highlight the need for a new derived unit to facilitate further analysis. This would represent deficits in pounds per staff member per year. What should we call it? I propose the bollix. In Dublin this term is considered indelicate. However, Donald Langenberg, a former president of the American Physical Society, has used the term when referring to the fate of the APS's journals (Physics Today December 1994 p45), so I suppose it is internationally acceptable.
