Abstract
Certain conditions (Alport's syndrome, kidney transplantation, dialysis) are followed by a progressive inner ear hearing loss. On the other hand, pharmacological substances that act on the transport mechanisms of the tubular epithelium may also produce inner ear disturbance. Experimental data on the possible pathomechanisms are discussed in reference to results reported in the literature. Keywords
