Abstract
A “generalized brightness theorem” is derived that describes the thermodynamic limitations of the fluorescent planar concentrator. The maximum brightness concentration ratio allowed by thermodynamics is exp (hΔν/kT) where Δν is the Stokes shift in fluorescence.Keywords
