Abstract
The Model 700A Hall™ electrolytic conductivity detector (HECD) was evaluated for its use as a sulfur-selective detector. The effects of different operating parameters were characterized in terms of signal-to-noise ratio. Selectivity ratios of sulfur-to-carbon and sulfur-to-chlorine were calculated for a few model compounds. The overall minimum selectivity founds was 5.5 × 103. The response of this detector was linear for two to four order of magnitude and the dynamic range was six orders of magnitude. The sensitivity ranged from 0.21 to 1.3 pg S/sec for different compounds on different days. In comparison to the sulfur-selective flame photometric detector, the HECD has lower detection limits, a linear response, and similar selectivity ratios. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
