Abstract
Ionization‐state density and x‐ray production rates are calculated for hot dense homogeneous Al plasmas for electron temperatures of 15–10 000 eV and ion densities of 1018–1024 cm−3. The calculation is based on the assumption that the plasma is in a quasi‐steady‐state and includes the following processes: (a) electron‐impact ionization, (b) radiative recombination, (c) dielectronic recombination, and (d) three‐body recombination. The ionization potential reduction and electron degeneracy at high densities, as well as the influence of population distribution among the excited states, are taken into account.
