Abstract
Sch 1000 (ipratropium bromide) is an anticholinergic drug which has been used as a bronchial antispasmodic. This paper reports the results obtained by administering Sch WOO repeatedly in doses of 0.02 mg. by inhalation at intervals of 30 minutes for up to 4 doses. Observations were made of FEV1 and of Raw, Vtg and SGaw to show the effected changes. Measurements were also made of blood pressure and heart rate as well as blood gas concentrations and expired gases. Details are given of the spirometric and plethysmographic data which show that Sch 1000 given in this way produces a degree of improvement in patients with reversible airways obstruction comparable with single doses of orciprenaline. No consistent changes were observed in blood gas concentrations. Keywords
