Automated Assessment Systems in School and Clinical Psychology: Present Status and Future Directions

Abstract
This article discusses the history and present status of interactional computerized assessment systems. Such systems administer, score, and interpret psychological tests through computers. A review of the literature on the strengths and weaknesses of automated assessment is provided. It is concluded that automated assessment is at a rudimentary stage of development especially in school psychology. Further research and development on tests specifically designed for computerization rather than adoption of existing tests to computerization is recommended.Keywords
