Abstract
N-hydroxytyrosine was tested as a possible intermediate in the biosynthesis of the cyanogenic glucoside dhurrin. NMR and gas chromatography were used to identify reaction products. p-Hydroxyphenylpyruvic acid oxime is not an intermediate in the disproportionation of N-hydroxytyrosine and the earlier postulated involvement of .alpha.-ketoacid oximes in the disproportionation of N-hydroxyamino acids when refluxed under N based solely on CO2 production appears questionable. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
