Abstract
Six commercially available topical steroid preparations have been examined for vasoconstrictor activity in man, for systemic anti-inflammatory activity in mice and rats, for progestational activity in rabbits. Good agreement was shown between "ranking order" of topical activity and "ranking order" of systemic activity with the exceptions that betamethasone had a lower, and betamethasone valerate had a higher, topical ranking than would have been expected from their systemic activities in the rat. Keywords
