ANALYSIS OF NITROUS OXIDE CONCENTRATIONS IN WHOLE BLOOD

Abstract
Nitrous oxide in Wood has been measured by an equilibration method; the 95% confidence limits for a single estimation are ±1.6 mg/100 ml, that is within 3.2% of the concentration at 50 mg/100 ml (65.5% nitrous oxide at equilibrium) and ±1.4 mg/100 ml, within 14% of the concentration, at 10 mg/100 ml (13.1% nitrous oxide at equilibrium). Once the calibration curve has been constructed, which takes about 90 minutes, analysis time for each sample is 3 minutes. The sample can be stored in a suitable bottle with a mean daily loss of 1% of the nitrous oxide concentration.
