Abstract
Despite the fact that pain is a common presenting complaint, its effective management remains an elusive goal surrounded by contradictions and controversy. In this article, Dr Stacey discusses the goals of chronic pain management and the treatment options available, with a focus on pharmacologic therapy and prescribing issues involving currently available analgesics.Keywords
