Abstract
Multiple choice breeding expts. were conducted with morphologically highly similar spp. of Drosophila to determine whether conditioning plays a part in sexual isolation. Conditioning was effective in expts. in which [male] D. persimilis were pro- or counter-conditioned by preliminarily keeping them with [female][female] of their own sp. or of D. pseudoobscura respectively. In other expts. the effects on the isolation index of smell (by raising the larvae together), wing movements (by removing the wings of [male][male]), darkness, aging in isolation, and temp. were tested. This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
