Abstract
A field strain of duck hepatitis virus (DHV) was carried through 20 passages in duck embryo fibroblast cultures. There were no conspicuous cyto-pathic changes or plaques observed. The titer of the virus in ducklings decreased rapidly and the virus became nonpathogenic at the 6th passage, but its pathogenicity for chicken embryos remained. The cell-culture-passaged virus was not neutralized by normal duck, chicken, and rabbit serums, but was neutralized by anti-DHV serum prepared in these same species of animals and by serum of ducks recovered from field outbreaks of virus hepatitis. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
