Abstract
The intra-erythrocytic development of a parasite of the frugivorous bat, Roussettus leachi, has been, observed. The name Plasmodium roussetti has been suggested temporarily. The rosettes are typical of the genus Plasmodium. The parasites can be transmitted congenitally and gametocytes have been found in foetal blood.This work has been made possible by grants from the Fonds National de la Recherche Scientifique and from the Institut pour la Recherche Scientifique en Afrique Centrale.Keywords
