THE PHYSIOLOGY OF PLAIN MUSCLE

Abstract
This is a review of present knowledge of plain muscle, with literature since about 1903. The chemistry of plain muscle appears to differ only quantitatively from that of striated muscle, according to the author''s work, there being forma-tion of lactic acid from glycogen under similar conditions in both varieties, and recovery with restitution of glycogen in presence of O2.
