Abstract
A comparative investigation of the action of over 100 chemicals in their protective action against the oxidative X-ray degradation of an aqueous polymer system, polymethacrylic acid, and against the lethal action of X-rays on mice is presented. A reasonably good correlation suggests that in vivo action of protectors may be due to their reaction with peroxy radicals HO2 produced by X-rays in oxygenated water. Keywords
