Abstract
In the early development of the daughter sporocyst embryos of the strigeoids, Diplostomum flexicaudum and Cercaria modicella. the germinal cells develop directly into germinal masses as was described earlier for the mother sporocyst of this group. This development is not synchronous since in stages of daughter sporocysts in which the largest germinal masses are fully developed the smallest have only 4 or 5 components. This lag in the development of some of the germinal masses extends the period during which they produce cercarial embryos. The mechanism of multiplication of the germinal cells in the germinal sacs of the strigeoids is adapted for the production of large numbers of cercariae over a long period of time. Keywords
