Effect of Anoxic Anoxia on Propulsive Motility of the Small Intestine.

Abstract
The propulsive motility of the small intestine of rats (42 controls, 42 exptls.), as measured by the progression of an intubated charcoal-acacia mixture, was significantly depressed at pO2''s of 80, 63 and 53 mm. Hg (18,000, 24,000 and 28,000 ft. simulated alt.), and the degree of depression was in that order. 94 mm. Hg pO2 (14,000 ft.) did not cause a depression that was statistically significant.
