Diagnostic Imaging of Choledochal Cysts

Abstract
A review of the literature concerning the diagnostic accuracy of various imaging modalities for [human] choledochal cysts indicates that ultrasound and scintigraphic methods have .apprx. 80% accuracy. Oral cholecystography and i.v. cholangiography methods have between 60-80% accuracy. Ultrasound is recommended as the initial preoperative test of choice, with hepatobiliary scintigraphy or CT [computed tomographic] scanning being most useful for postoperative evaluation.
