Abstract
After receiving 6 months of intensive postoperative training, 3 baboons with dorsolateral frontal lesions and 3 with ventromedial frontal lesions were trained, while under the effects of Nembutal-sedation, on a delayed-alternation problem. The scores of 3 animals showed significant improvement, arguing against the suggestion that positive findings which have been reported previously were coincident with normal recovery within the first few postoperative months. Prolonged training with sedation is an important though not a sufficient condition for improvement. No consistent relationship appeared, however, either between the locus of lesion or the previous performance level and the effect of the drug. Keywords
