Abstract
Yellow pan traps were used in Kansas, Missouri and Wisconsin to study the northward dispersal of the greenbug, Toxoptera graminum (Rond.). Wind-borne greenbugs that arrived in Wisconsin probably introduced the barley yellow dwarf virus disease of oats. Chemical control measures used against the greenbug when populations became abundant were ineffective because of virus already spread in the crop. Keywords
