Abstract
"An experiment was conducted to test the presence of any differential recognition effects for tachistoscopically presented words to the right and the left of a centrally located fixation point when the set for the type of stimulus to be presented was controlled by the inclusion of geometric stimuli in the test series. The results of this experiment, which showed that more words were recognized in the right visual field, are in agreement with those of Heron's study (see 33: 387) in which only the side on which a stimulus appeared was controlled. The role of postexposural attentional processes was discussed as a possible explanation for the differential recognition effects observed."
