Abstract
An intraoperative "A-scan" method of echoencephalography is described. The sounding is carried out either on a sterile transparent plastic sheet placed over the dura, and imprinted with a co-ordinate system, or directly on the dura, the co-ordinate system being projected onto the operation field from a slide. The echograms produced from the individual fields of the co-ordinate system are recorded layer for layer on film. A Polaroid camera with an adjustable back allows the different individual soundings of one section to be printed one over the other. The value of the method is illustrated with the aid of 2 clinical-pathological cases.
