Abstract
The secretion rate of immunoreactive GH was determined in 5 patients with acromegaly from measurements of 24 hr integrated plasma concentrations of GH obtained by continuous blood sampling and metabolic clearance rates derived from constant infusions of tracer doses of radioiodinated GH before and after 4–36 weeks of treatment with chlorpromazine 100 mg/day. There were no consistent changes in any of the parameters and the 24 hr GH secretion rates before (3.4–40.3 mg/day) and during treatment (3.6–95.3 mg/day) were not significantly different. It was concluded that chlorpromazine does not suppress GH secretion in acromegaly. Keywords
