Abstract
6,8-Dimethoxyflavone and 2'',3'',5''-trimethoxyflavone were synthesized in good yield from 2-bromo-6-methoxy-1,4-benzoquinone as a starting material. The flavone isolated from Alnus glutinosa and presumed to be 5,4''-dihydroxy-6,8-dimethoxyflavone may be 5,4''-dihydroxy-6,7-dimethoxyflavone by comparison with the melting points of synthetic flavone derivatives. The 13C-NMR spectra of the flavones are discussed.Keywords
