Abstract
Giant pulses of optical maser radiation have been produced which are several orders of magnitude larger than the commonly observed spontaneous pulses. The pulses were produced by varying the effective reflectivity of the reflecting surfaces at the ends of the ruby rod through a Kerr‐cell switching technique. The measured pulse characteristics are found to be in agreement with theoretical predictions. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
