Abstract
Summary: The muscle ofAscaris suumcontains sorbitol dehydrogenase [EC 1.1.1. 14] and the apparentKmvalues indicate that the enzymefavours fructose formation. Aldose reductase [EC 1.1.1.21] is also present and like the mammalian enzyme it has a very high apparentKmfor glucose. Possible functions of the sorbitol pathway inAscarismuscle are discussed. This publication has 16 references indexed in Scilit:
