Abstract
Role of Genital Mycoplasmas in Disorders of the Urinary TractUrinary CalculiFriedlander and Braude72 produced magnesium ammonium phosphate calculi in the bladders of male rats by inoculating ureaplasmas directly into the bladder or renal pelvis. Female rats treated in the same way were unaffected. The production of calculi is presumably related to the urease activity of the organisms, since it can be prevented by treating the animals with acetohydroxamic acid, which inhibits urease.73 Other workers51 have searched for such organisms in the urinary tract and renal tissue of patients who required surgery because of calculi in the ureter or . . .Keywords
