Abstract
P-, m- and o-Aminobenzoic acids are converted to corresponding amides in submerged cultures of Streptomyces-strain JA 2814, S. noursei ATCC 11455, Actinomyces rimosus LS-T 118 and S. erythreus JA 4143. S. chrysomallus JA 1449, A. globisporus streptomycini LS-I, S. strain JA 3626 and S-strain JA 2701 do not amidate the acids. The effect of aminobenzoic acids and p-aminosalicylic acid and of the amidation reaction on the synthesis of antibiotics and aureothin is discussed.
