Abstract
A stack of Ilford G5 emulsions exposed to the 5.7 Bev proton beam of the Berkeley Bevatron has been searched for disintegrations of silver and bromine nuclei with ejected 8Li fragments, and 91 examples found. The experimental results can be explained qualitatively by assuming that most of the fragments from stars with 12 or more black prongs are ejected as part of the evaporation process but a few of the fragments from the smaller stars (less than 12 black prongs) are ejected during the initial stages of the collision. Keywords
