Abstract
Several recent analyses of neutron induced reactions have necessitated the use of different potential parameters for different partial waves. We suggest that this parametrization of the optical potential can be alleviated if the proper dynamic deformations of the target nucleus are introduced. In an application to the + n reaction, a coupled channel calculation yields good fits to elastic and compound cross sections with a unique set of real optical potential parameters.
