Abstract
To the Editor: It is well known that patients with Hodgkin's disease show an an impairment of cellular immune reactions. It is generally accepted that this phenomenon is a consequence of the acquired depletion of thymus-derived (T) lymphocytes. Controversial data can be found on the proportion of immunoglobulin-bearing lymphocytes (B cells) in Hodgkin's disease. Grifoni et al.1 have reported a significant increase of IgG-bearing lymphocytes in peripheral blood. Cohnen (N Engl J Med 288:161, 1973) and Falletta (N Engl J Med 288:581, 1973) and their co-workers have found that the increased proportion of immunoglobulin-bearing cells occurs after chemotherapy or radiotherapy, . . .Keywords
