Abstract
People often voice concern about the adequacy of their own sleep and — perhaps only as a form of politesse — the sleep patterns of others. "Did you sleep well?" is a question routinely asked of those subject to unusual conditions or tensions. There is implicit recognition of the important roles of both physiologic and psychological factors in the complex phenomenon of sleep. In view of the observations mentioned below, immunologic factors might also be considered.Attempts to cope with difficulties in sleeping take many forms.
