Abstract
A patient's personal and family history can give important clues to the cause of scalp hair loss. In turn, appropriate laboratory studies will determine the optimal course of therapy. Treatment might take the form of reassurance (for alopecia due to aging), discontinuance of certain medications, use of steroid, or one of a large variety of other measures. Keywords
