A Screen Printed CdS/CuInSe2 Solar Cell

Abstract
We report here the initial results of polycrystalline, 1 cm2, CdS/CuInSe2 solar cell, where both materials are successibely deposited by screen printing and sintering of pastes which contain the semiconductors. Indium chloride is used as adopant in the CdS paste. Typically these cells produce energy conversion efficiencies of around 3%, under 80 mW/cm2 ELH illumination. These preliminary results indicate the possibility of using ternary I-III-VI2 semiconductors as the absorber material in solar cells produced by the low cost technique of screen printing.
