THE CECAL BASCULE

Abstract
Two cases of surgically proven cecal bascule associated with obstruction are reported. This unusual obstruction should be separated from the classic cecal volvulus with its recognizable roentgenographic pattern.Specific features of anterior folding of the cecum with associated formation of flap valve obstruction at the folded point on the ascending colon are emphasized.Associated fibrotic adhesions at the fixation point, in combination with a competent ileocecal sphincter disposes toward the formation of this entity. The treatment of choice is surgical decompression and cecopexy.
