Abstract
A theoretical-mathematical treatment of the relationship between cell survival and cell alteration is described. Application of the model is demonstrated by using the parameters obtained from a fit to cell survival data in a qualitative description of cell alteration as a function of dose. The cell survival equations are similar to those obtained using other models available. For example, the parameter n of multi-target theory appears as a function of several variables in the model. The present model provides a framework for the development of a more sophisticated model encompassing other models and providing guidance for experimental work.
