Abstract
The X-ray K-absorption spectra of cobalt in some cobalt complexes have been investigated using a 40 cm Cauchois type bent crystal transmission spectrograph. The results have been explained on the basis of the molecular orbital theory and information regarding the nature of bonding and coordination has been deduced. Various X-ray K-absorption parameters are obtained and compared with optical parameters. A linear correlation has been observed among coordination stoichiometry, edge shift and effective nuclear charge. The data subjected to the method of least squares indicated that the correlation is genuine. Keywords
