Removal of Scandium-46 in Man

Abstract
The removal of Sc46 was studied in man following the intravenous injection of a single dose of Sc46 administered as the weak chelate nitrilotriacetate, NTA. The chelating agents EDTA and DTPA were used as enhancing agents at 24 hr and on the sixth day following the injection of the Sc46 tracer. Infusions of either of the 2 chelating agents resulted in increased excretion of Sc46 in urine, but DTPA was more effective than EDTA. Also, the urinary Sc46 excretion remained elevated after the discontinuation of the infusions of DTPA.
