Abstract
Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) challenges the community health nurse (CHN) to serve on the front-line as a defense against what President Reagan has called "Public Health Enemy No. 1." AIDS is preventable, and the public, especially our youth, must be informed. The CHN is in an excellent position to provide leadership in implementing quality, costeffective AIDS education programs across the community–including in our schools and on our campuses. Certain principles should serve as guidelines in implementing instructional programs about AIDS.Keywords
