Abstract
A statistical model is used to describe multiphoton ionisation of noble gases. The energy spectrum of emitted electrons consists of a series of peaks corresponding to the absorption of various numbers of photons. The intensity dependence of the peaks is analysed and compared with experimental results for xenon and helium atoms. Keywords
