Diffractive angular distribution forO16(π+, π−)Ne16(g.s.)

The 164-MeV angular distribution for the non-analog double charge exchange reaction ${}_{}{}^{16}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{O}({\pi }^{+}, {\pi }^{-}){}_{}{}^{16}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{Ne}(\mathrm{g}.\mathrm{s}.\mathrm{})$ has been measured and is found to be basically diffractive. This is contrasted with the previously measured analog distribution for ${}_{}{}^{18}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{O}({\pi }^{+}, {\pi }^{-}){}_{}{}^{18}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{Ne}$ (double isobaric analog) which is not diffractive.
